Stockholm city Live, Sweden Cam

This is a rooftop view over Vasastan, a residential district in the northern part of central Stockholm in Sweden. The webcam looks across the roofs towards Torsgatan.

The blocks below are early twentieth century, built in stone on a grid pushed north as the city outgrew its islands. The whole of Stockholm sits on hard Precambrian rock, which is why its underground lines were blasted out rather than bored and why several stations are left as bare cave.

The city proper is spread over fourteen islands where a lake meets the Baltic, and the water is fresh on one side of the locks in the middle of town and brackish on the other.
