Mabula Gnu Pan, South Africa Live Cam

A waterhole at Mabula lies in front of this webcam, in the Waterberg region of Limpopo province, South Africa. White rhino stand at the far edge with a calf, and an antelope drinks at the near bank.

The Waterberg is a plateau of grassland and rocky outcrops, and this is a private reserve where rhino are kept under guard against poaching. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe and the smaller game all come to this pan, which is the only open water for some distance.

The dry winter concentrates everything here; after the summer rains animals disperse and the pan can stand empty. Dawn and the hour before dark are when the traffic is heaviest.
