Gostiny Dvor, Nevsky avenue Live Cam

The Petrovskaya Embankment in Saint Petersburg carries this view across the Neva towards Liteyny Bridge. Ice floes drift down the river in the foreground, and traffic runs along the far embankment past the bridge approach.

Liteyny Bridge is 396 metres long and carries Liteyny Prospekt over to the Vyborg side; the cruiser Aurora is moored a short way upstream from the camera position. Turning west, the same camera reaches the Trinity Bridge, the Summer Garden, the dome of St Isaac's and the Lakhta Center tower on the horizon.

The Neva carries ice down from Lake Ladoga in spring, which is what fills the foreground here for several weeks. Between April and November the bridges are raised at night to let ships through.
