Centru Vaslui, Romania Live Cam

The centre of Vaslui is a set of concrete civic buildings from the 1970s, with the boulevard running past them. The camera turns across the square and the traffic from a block above.

The old town was cleared to make room for this. Vaslui was rebuilt under the systematisation programme of the late socialist period, which is why a county seat with five centuries of history has almost nothing older than the blocks in view.

The statue on the square is Stephen the Great, who beat a far larger Ottoman army in the marshes at Podul Înalt south of the town in January 1475. Vaslui gave its name to that battle and has kept him at the middle of the place ever since.
