Weather and time
This camera looks down into a kestrel nest box fixed to the facade of the county office building on Sikorskiego Street in Legionowo. The open-fronted wooden box has a floor of dark gravel, with salmon-pink plaster and a white vent grille showing at its edges.
Legionowo is a county town in the Masovian Voivodeship, north of Warsaw and about seven kilometres south of the Zegrze Reservoir. The common kestrel is the most widespread falcon in Poland and often nests on tall buildings in towns. In 2025 a pair settled in this box and raised six young, which were later ringed by an ornithologist.
The framing never changes, so the gravel floor and any bird landing on the weathered front board fill most of the picture. In autumn the box often stands empty, and jackdaws perch on its rim to peer inside.
