Seaside Boulevard, Gdynia Live Cam

The seaside boulevard at Gdynia runs for a kilometre and a half along the shore of the Bay of Gdańsk in northern Poland. The camera looks along the promenade and the beach.

Gdynia was a village of a few hundred people until 1926. Poland came out of the first world war with a coastline but no port it controlled, since Danzig was a free city, so the state built one here from nothing and a modern town around it within fifteen years.

What went up is one of the largest bodies of modernist architecture in Europe, streets of white functionalist blocks designed as a deliberate statement. The port behind the promenade still works.
