The harbour at Auckland lies below this view by night, seen from the eastern side of the city in New Zealand. The lit deck of the harbour bridge crosses the middle of the frame, and the lights of the North Shore run behind it.

Auckland is built on an isthmus with a harbour on each side, and the bridge, opened in 1959, is the single road link to the northern suburbs. The port and its container cranes are on the same waterfront, closer to the centre.

The camera is run as a weather camera, so by day it shows the harbour, the islands of the gulf and the cloud coming in from the west. At night it reduces to the bridge and the reflections.
