N348g Route de Mars, Zutphen Live Cam

The N348 bypass skirts the industrial quarter of Zutphen, in the east of the Netherlands, past this roundabout. The webcam looks down on the traffic through a rain-spotted lens.

The old town a kilometre south keeps a chained library. It was built onto the church in 1564, the books are still fastened to the desks by chains, and it is one of only a handful anywhere that survives in the room it was made for.

Zutphen is called the tower town for the number of them on its skyline, and it is one of the oldest cities in the country, chartered before 1200. The IJssel running past it is a branch of the Rhine.
