Tehachapi Railroad Live Cam

The level crossing on Green Street in Tehachapi lies in front of this view, in the mountains of southern California. Freight tracks run diagonally across the frame past the old depot, and pickups wait at the barriers.

The line through Tehachapi Pass is one of the busiest freight routes in the country, carrying traffic between Bakersfield and the Mojave. A few kilometres west is the Tehachapi Loop, where the track spirals over itself to gain height — long trains cross above their own tail there.

Trains pass several times an hour, day and night. The building beside the crossing is a railroad museum, and a second camera from the same group covers the line at Mojave.
