Maasvlakte Rotterdam, Netherlands Live Cam

Maasvlakte 2 is made ground, a couple of thousand hectares of sand pumped into the North Sea to extend the port of Rotterdam. The camera looks over the container terminals from the FutureLand visitor centre.

The reclamation ran from 2008 to 2013 and was closed off with a sea defence that is part hard revetment and part dune. The terminals built on it were designed to work without drivers: the cranes are operated remotely and the carriers between the stacks move themselves.

Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe and this is its deepest water, which is why the biggest container ships call here first. The visitor centre sits on the edge of the site, and the bus and boat tours of the reclamation leave from it.
