Lemmer Dock Live Cam

Lemmer stands where a canal meets the IJsselmeer in the south-western corner of Friesland, in the Netherlands. The camera looks along the quay and the boats moored in the middle of the town.

On the edge of the town is the Woudagemaal, the largest steam-driven pumping station ever built and still in service: when the electric pumps cannot keep up with the water, the boilers are lit and it drains the province as it has since 1920. It became a UNESCO site in 1998.

Lemmer was a fishing port on the Zuiderzee until that sea was dammed in 1932 and turned into a freshwater lake. The fleet went and the pleasure boats came, and the lock in the middle of the town is now among the busiest in the country in summer.
