Bird and Hedgehog Feeders, Uplengen Live Cam

Two wooden bird feeding houses stand in front of a dense green hedge in a garden in Uplengen, in the Leer district of Lower Saxony. Between them is a log feeder filled with fat, and a wooden tray with pieces of fruit runs along the bottom of the frame.

Uplengen, in the north-east of the Leer district in East Frisia, is the largest municipality of the district by area. Much of its land lies on raised bog settled by fen villages, and farmland takes up more than four fifths of the area. Hedgerows on earth banks run through all its villages and give small birds shelter.

The daytime camera sits close to the feeders, so sparrows, starlings, doves and jays are seen at short range. After dark the stream shows a second camera on the ground, aimed at two shallow bowls on bark mulch in front of a wooden box, a feeding place for hedgehogs.
