Liberec city Live Cam

Liberec lies in a basin between the Jizera mountains and the Ještěd ridge, in the north of the Czech Republic. The camera turns over the roofs towards the tower on the summit.

That tower is the reason people recognise the place. Built between 1966 and 1973, it is a hyperboloid that continues the line of the mountain upwards, so the peak and the building read as one shape; it holds a transmitter, a restaurant and a hotel.

The town grew on wool and cloth and was German-speaking until 1945. Its town hall, finished in 1893, is a smaller copy of the one in Vienna, built by an architect who had worked on the original.
