Weather and time
Leishenshan was the second emergency hospital built in Wuhan in early 2020, and this camera watched it go up. The picture is rows of prefabricated units being craned into place.
The buildings are steel boxes, made in factories and delivered complete with plumbing and wiring, then bolted into terraces on a concrete raft. Sixteen hundred beds were finished in twelve days, with the sealed floors and negative pressure that isolation wards need.
Both hospitals emptied within a few months as the city's cases fell. This one was left standing rather than taken down, and the method has been used since for emergency wards elsewhere in China.
