Galeão sits on Governador Island in Guanabara Bay and is the international airport for the city, sharing the island with an air force base — which is why military aircraft appear here alongside the airlines. The expressway to the centre runs past the perimeter.

Traffic is heaviest in the morning and late evening, when the long-haul flights come and go. The camera also pans to the bay and the hills beyond the field.
