Beira-mar Norte, Florianópolis Live Cam

Avenida Beira-Mar Norte runs along the north bay of Florianópolis, on the island side of the Brazilian state capital. The webcam looks down on the promenade, the traffic and the water beyond.

None of that ground is natural. The avenue and its walking and cycling strip were built on fill tipped into the bay in the 1970s, which pushed the shoreline out and gave the centre the waterfront it uses now.

The city sits on Santa Catarina Island and is tied to the mainland by three bridges. The oldest, Hercílio Luz, is a steel suspension span from 1926 that was closed as unsafe in 1991 and did not carry traffic again until 2019.
