Perisher Snow Stake, Blue Cow Live Cam

The official Perisher snow stake stands on the Blue Cow slopes, a blue scale marked from zero to sixty centimetres above a dark board. Bare, pale snow gums rise on both sides, and mountain ridges close the horizon beyond a wooded valley.

Blue Cow is one of the four village bases of Perisher, Australia's largest ski resort, in Kosciuszko National Park in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales. In winter it is reached by the Skitube rail line from Bullocks Flat. The stake sits below the Brumby T-Bar, a short lift linking the lower runs with the Blue Cow terminal.

The board at the foot of the stake is cleared daily, so the reading shows the fresh snow of the past day. Outside the ski season the fixed view shows shrubs, heath and leafless trunks, and the glossy board mirrors the clouds.
