Aichi Prefecture lies in the central Japanese island of Honshu. It shares borders with Gifu Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture to the north, Shizuoka to the east, Mie Prefecture to the west and faces the Isle and Makawa Bays and the Pacific coast to the south. The capital Nagoya is the heart of the Chūkyō metropolitan area, among the most populated urban areas in the world. This city has many wonderful places to visit such as its 1615 magnificent castle, the first castle to be designated a National Treasure of Japan. You will also see museums including Tokugawa Art Museum and Nagoya City Science Museum with one of the world's largest planetariums. At the waterfront, the Nagoya Port stands out with a modern leisure district. Just outside Nagoya is Nagashima Resort, a holiday destination with an amusement park and other attractions. In the major city Toyota, the home of Toyota Motor Corporation, you may like to visit the Toyota Automobile Museum and the wonderful landscapes of Kōrankei Gorge, adjacent to Aichi Kōgen Quasi-National Park.
