Kasugai, Japan
Kasugai is a city in the Owari area of Aichi Prefecture, lying just northeast of Nagoya and home to about 300,000 people. It was formed in 1943 from the town of Kachigawa and three neighboring villages, and the Shonai River flows through its southern part. The city is a leading grower of seedling cacti and is traditionally regarded as the birthplace of the Heian-period calligrapher Ono no Michikaze. Kozoji New Town in the east of the city, one of the three major new towns of Japan, received its first residents in 1968.
