Micro Beach, Saipan Live Cam

Micro Beach at Garapan lies below this webcam on Saipan, the largest of the Northern Mariana Islands. Palms and hotel lawns fill the foreground, and the lagoon inside the reef runs flat and pale to the horizon.

The reef holds the water calm all along this western shore, and Garapan is the island's main town, with the hotels and shops behind the beach. Saipan was taken in one of the heaviest battles of the Pacific war in 1944, and memorials stand along this coast.

Typhoons cross the Marianas between August and November and are what the camera is watched for locally. The rest of the year the lagoon in view barely moves.
