Kokusai-dori, Naha, Okinawa Live Cam

A junction on Kokusai-dori lies in front of this webcam, on the main street of Naha on Okinawa, in the far south of Japan. Kei cars turn across the road below the lens, and low shopfronts run along both sides of the junction.

Kokusai-dori runs about two kilometres through the middle of Naha and was rebuilt after the island was flattened in 1945, which is why nothing along it is old. Shops, bars and restaurants line it, and the covered Makishi market is a block away.

The climate here is subtropical and typhoons cross the island in late summer, shutting everything in the frame for a day at a time. Foot traffic builds in the evening.
