Roanoke Museum Main Line, Virginia Live Cam

Norfolk Southern main-line tracks pass the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, Virginia, with downtown buildings behind them. The fixed frame looks east from beside the museum, under the edge of a highway overpass.

Roanoke grew up as a Norfolk and Western railroad town and remains one of Norfolk Southern's most important rail hubs. The museum sits in the historic N&W freight station on Norfolk Avenue, a short walk from the downtown station where Amtrak's Northeast Regional stops.

A mesh fence, a guardrail and large spoked locomotive wheels from the museum's outdoor display fill the foreground beside a pavement painted with a track pattern. Beyond the rails run a road and a green strip, and a steel footbridge crosses the tracks in the distance in front of a parking garage.
