Redding Railroad Avenue, California Live Cam

A two-lane road with a double yellow line runs beside a fenced Union Pacific yard in Redding, with a freight train on the tracks beyond. Tank cars, a graffiti-covered hopper and open lattice-sided cars move along in front of the trees.

Redding is the seat of Shasta County at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley. The tracks here are the Union Pacific Valley Subdivision at milepost 257.7, and Amtrak’s Coast Starlight passes as trains 11 southbound and 14 northbound. Railroad Avenue runs right alongside the yard here.

This is a pan-tilt-zoom camera, and the view changes during the day. The wide angle shows a utility pole at the right edge and freight cars across the upper half of the frame; another angle swings left and tilts up to show a red-brown cut bank, bushes and rooftops behind the tracks.
