Quanah is the seat of Hardeman County in the plains of northwest Texas, not far from the Red River and the Oklahoma border. The tracks here belong to the BNSF Red River Valley Subdivision, which sees freight with grain, coal, oil and intermodal cars, and a wye connects to a branch toward Altus, Oklahoma.

The frame looks out over the track bed, with a stack of wooden planks and a loose length of rail close to the gravel. Between passing trains this is a quiet prairie yard, and the view changes when freight rolls through.
