Downtown Archbold, Ohio Live Cam

Lorries work through the brick-paved junction of South Defiance and Stryker Street in Archbold, a village in north-west Ohio. The webcam looks almost straight down on the crossing.

Archbold has about 4,300 people and a furniture works out of all proportion to that: Sauder Woodworking started here in 1934 and made its name on flat-pack cabinets, which is part of why the lorry traffic through the middle of the village is what it is.

The fields around are flat because they were a swamp. The Great Black Swamp covered this corner of Ohio until it was ditched and tiled in the second half of the nineteenth century, and the drains still run ruler-straight between the section lines.
