A padel court at a club in Palma, on Mallorca, sits in front of this camera with a game usually running on it. The walls of the court are glass.

The glass is the point of the design. A ball that would be out in tennis stays in play off the back and side walls, so points last longer and the game rewards placement over power; the court is enclosed on all four sides.

The sport grew from almost nothing in Spain in the 1990s to tens of thousands of courts, and the Balearics have some of the highest numbers per head. Most clubs, like this one, run on bookings by the hour rather than membership.
