Balcón de Europa, Nerja Live Cam

The Balcón de Europa is a promenade on a rock spur at Nerja, pushed out into the sea on the Costa del Sol. The webcam looks along the railings and the cliffs to either side.

It stands on the platform of a coastal battery blown up in 1812. The name is credited to Alfonso XII, who came in 1885 after an earthquake and stood on the ruined gun position looking out at the water.

The caves four kilometres east were found in 1959 by five boys chasing bats down a hole. They hold one of the largest columns of rock ever measured, along with paintings that have been argued to be among the oldest in Europe.
