Portilla de la Reina, Province of León Live Cam

Portilla de la Reina is a village of red-tiled roofs under bare limestone slopes in the north of the Province of León, Spain. The camera looks down on the houses from the valley side, with the mountains filling the background.

Around fifty people live here, part of the municipality of Boca de Huérgano. The road through the village climbs to the Puerto de San Glorio, a pass of more than 1,600 metres that crosses into Cantabria and is the usual way in from the south.

The Picos de Europa begin a short distance north, and the meadows around the village are still cut for hay. Winter empties the place almost entirely; the summer population is several times the registered one.
