Marc's Beach Bar Langebaan Live Cam

Langebaan lagoon lies inside the West Coast National Park, about a hundred kilometres north of Cape Town in South Africa. The webcam looks over the water from a bar on the beach.

No river runs into this lagoon. It is fed by the sea alone, which is why the water is clear and fully salt rather than brackish, and why the sand at the head of it is white shell rather than silt.

The mudflats are a Ramsar site and take tens of thousands of waders each southern summer, birds that breed in the Arctic and fly the length of Africa to feed here. The wind that suits the kitesurfers blows most afternoons from October to March.
