Ruda Slaska City view, Silesian Live Cam

A main road through Ruda Śląska runs below this view, in a city in the Silesian conurbation of southern Poland. Detached houses and small blocks line both sides, and the road runs straight through the frame between them.

Ruda Śląska was assembled in 1959 out of separate mining settlements, which is why it has no single centre and reads as a string of districts. It belongs to the Upper Silesian metropolitan association, a built-up area of more than two million people.

The camera belongs to a local security firm that runs city monitoring, so it holds a fixed wide frame. In winter smoke from domestic coal stoves hangs over these streets, and the far end of the road disappears into it.
