Mita Sky, Tokyo Live Cam

The red brick library of Keio University stands in the Mita district of Tokyo, below the towers of Roppongi. The camera looks across at it with the time and temperature on screen.

Keio is the oldest university in Japan, founded as a school of Dutch studies in 1858 by Fukuzawa Yukichi, who switched it to English within a year on finding that nobody in the treaty port could read Dutch. His face is on the ten-thousand-yen note.

The library dates from 1912 and came through the firebombing of 1945 when much of the district did not. The tower behind is Mori Tower at Roppongi Hills, finished in 2003 on a site assembled over seventeen years.
