Weather and time
Kestrel nest box near Lahinch on the Atlantic coast of County Clare, shown as a split screen of three views. One view looks out over farmland and a curved red roof, and two look inside the box.
Lahinch is a seaside village on Liscannor Bay, known for its golf links and surf beach, and the countryside behind it is a mix of rough pasture, hedgerows, scrub and young woodland. The kestrel is a small falcon of open country that hunts by hovering over fields and verges, and a box placed high up gives it a dry, sheltered place to nest.
The outside view takes in a gravel-topped roof section, a mast with a small white disc, a distant farmhouse and a dark line of conifers on the horizon. Inside, a wide-angle lens shows green-painted walls and a floor of reddish chips, and a second view shows close pale timber boards.
