Market Square, Einbeck Live Cam

The market square of Einbeck lies below this view, in a half-timbered town in Lower Saxony, Germany. Green parasols cover the café terraces, and a row of timbered houses runs along the far side of the square.

The old town hall on the left, with its three round towers, dates from the sixteenth century. Einbeck was a brewing town in the Hanseatic period and gave its name to bock beer, which was exported as far as Bavaria and copied there.

Market stalls are set out on the square on market days and a Christmas market takes over the same ground in December. The paving and the timbered fronts are what the camera shows the rest of the year.
