Weather and time
This panorama looks from the hillside of Castelnau-de-Lévis across a wide valley towards the town of Albi in southern France. Built-up areas fill the far side of the valley, with low hills along the horizon.
Albi lies on the Tarn river, roughly 70 km north-east of Toulouse, and is known for its brick architecture and its Episcopal City, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Castelnau-de-Lévis is a neighbouring commune on the heights above the Tarn valley, about 4 km north-west of the centre of Albi. Individual buildings are too small to pick out at this range, so the town reads as a pattern of roofs and trees.
The frame is wide and open, with sky taking about two thirds of the height. Shrubs and bare ground fill the foreground, a power line and a few houses sit on the left, and a large tree leans in at the right edge.
