Main Railway Station, Olomouc Live Cam

This camera looks down on Olomouc main railway station and its forecourt from the top of a high-rise office tower to the south-west. Below lie a square with a fountain, tram and bus stops under long canopies, and the brick station hall beside the tracks.

The station stands in the Hodolany district, about two kilometres east of the historic centre of Olomouc. The first train arrived here in October 1841, and the present station building was designed by Antonín Parkman in 1936. Between 2001 and 2010 the forecourt was rebuilt in stages, gaining a tram loop, covered bus stops and the square with the fountain.

The wide lens also takes in the eastern part of the city, with trains standing at the platforms on the right. The spire of Saint Wenceslas Cathedral rises on the left of the skyline, and low hills line the horizon to the north-east.
