Esparteiro Garden, Macau Live Cam

The camera overlooks the Dra. Laurinda M. Esparteiro Garden on the island of Taipa, in the south of Macau. Paths cross the flowerbeds below the lens, and hotel towers of the Cotai district stand behind the trees.

The garden runs along the foot of the slope below the Taipa Houses, five green-painted Portuguese villas from around 1920 that are now a museum of colonial-era domestic life. Together they form the last stretch of old Taipa left standing among the casino development.

Beds are replanted through the year and sculptures are put out for festivals, so the layout in view keeps changing. The contrast in one frame — low colonial houses against thirty-storey hotels — is what makes this camera different from the one on Senado Square.
