Nanaimo Waterfront Suites & Marina Live Cam

Nanaimo Harbour opens onto the Strait of Georgia on the east side of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. The webcam is mounted at a hotel marina and looks across the moored boats toward the islands.

Coal built the town from the 1850s, and the pits ran under the harbour itself until the last of them closed. What remains of that period is the street grid and a small stone bastion on the waterfront, the oldest surviving Hudson's Bay Company structure of its kind in the country.

Protection Island and Newcastle Island lie across the water, both reached by small ferries; the pub on Protection Island is accessible no other way. Larger vessels run from Departure Bay and Duke Point to the mainland.
