Sobradinho, city center, Brasilia Live Cam

The centre of Sobradinho is a square where the main streets of the town meet, in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The camera looks towards the obelisk and the covered event space behind it.

The lion on that obelisk is the lion of St Mark, the emblem of Venice, and it is there because the families who settled this part of the state in the late nineteenth century came from the Veneto.

The jacarandas flowering along the street mark the local spring, which falls in October. Sobradinho has about fourteen thousand people and lives on soy, tobacco and the trade that comes with them.
