Port Lincoln Osprey Live Cam

An osprey nest built on a barge fills this webcam view at Port Lincoln, on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. Chicks sit on the stick platform, with the water of Porter Bay directly behind them.

Eastern ospreys are scarce in this state — a few dozen breeding pairs along the whole coast — so this nest is watched closely. The platform was put on the barge for the birds, and the same pair has returned to it season after season.

Eggs are laid around August and the young are flying by December. Outside the season the platform stands empty and the frame is water and moorings.
