Great Cruz Bay, Gifft Hill Live Cam

This fixed camera on Gifft Hill looks west over Great Cruz Bay and across Pillsbury Sound toward the hills of eastern Saint Thomas. Green hillsides with scattered houses fill the foreground, and moored boats gather in the bay.

Gifft Hill is a high ridge of Saint John, and from its crest the south-west coast falls away to Great Cruz Bay and the headland of Contant Point. Across the sound the islands of Little Saint James and Great Saint James line the horizon to the left of Saint Thomas, and the small flat Stevens Cay lies near the center.

The camera is mounted on a gazebo roof at the top of the hill, so it looks down on the bay and out over a wide stretch of sea. Broad banana leaves frame the lower right. The islands and the coastline stay fixed in every frame, while the sky, the light and the color of the water change.
