Asbury Ave, Ocean City Live Cam

Asbury Avenue carries the shopping traffic of Ocean City, New Jersey, past brick and painted storefronts three blocks in from the beach. Garlands wound round the lamp posts date this frame to the winter months.

The webcam is mounted at Wallace Hardware on the corner of Eighth Street, in the middle of the retail strip. Asbury Avenue is where the town shops year round, while the boardwalk trade closes down once the season ends.

Ocean City was founded in 1879 by Methodist ministers as a Christian seaside resort, and it has never issued a licence to sell alcohol. The rule still holds, which sets the tone of the restaurants along this street.
