Weather and time
This webcam looks across the moorings and the slipway in Jackson's Bay at Barry, on the Vale of Glamorgan coast of South Wales. Sailing yachts and small motor boats lie between the stone harbour wall and the long curved breakwater.
Barry is a seaside town on the northern shore of the Bristol Channel, southwest of Cardiff. The channel has one of the largest tidal ranges in the world, so boats on the moorings settle on soft mud as the water drops and float again on the flood. A small white lighthouse tower stands at the end of the breakwater on the right.
The view is fixed, looking down from above a rusty rail-track slipway with a stone quay wall on the left. Frames from different hours show the tide at work: blue water around high water, wide stretches of wet mud at low water. A strip on the picture lists tide times.
