Kunda Cafe, Chiang Rai Live Cam

Wat Ming Muang sits in the middle of Chiang Rai, in the far north of Thailand, and the camera looks down on it. The view comes from a cafe across the street.

The temple is one of the oldest in the city and built in the Lanna style of the northern kingdom: low tiered roofs, carved gables and naga serpents running down the stair rails. Chiang Rai was founded in 1262 as the first capital of that kingdom, before Chiang Mai.

The white temple a few kilometres south, which most visitors come for, is not old at all: an artist began building it in 1997 and it is still unfinished. The town sits on the Kok river below the hills of the Golden Triangle.
