ZeZe Restaurant, Koh Samui Live Cam

Chaweng Beach Road runs behind the longest beach on Koh Samui, and the camera looks down on its traffic from a restaurant terrace. The sand itself is a block away, on the east side of the island.

Everything on this side of Samui grew along one lane. The road was never widened as the resorts filled in behind it, so what is in the picture is a seven-kilometre beach funnelled into a single carriageway.

The island had no airport until 1989, when an airline built the one here and still owns it; before that Samui was a coconut plantation reached by night boat from Surat Thani. The coconuts are still exported, though they stopped paying the bills a long time ago.
