Weather and time
Plaça d'en Coll is a small square in the old town of Palma, on Mallorca, filled with the tables of a restaurant. The camera looks over the terrace and the houses around it.
The lanes here follow the plan of the Moorish town, which is why they run at odd angles and open into squares like this one without warning. Palma was taken by Aragon in 1229 and the street pattern outlived the change.
The island takes something like fifteen million visitors a year through an airport handling thirty million passengers, and the pressure on streets this size has become a local political question. Out of season the same square is largely empty.
