La Concha Beach, San Sebastián Live Cam

La Concha bay opens out below this webcam at San Sebastián, in the Basque Country on the north coast of Spain. The beach curves round the bay below the lens, with Monte Urgull and the old town on the left and a Ferris wheel on the right.

The bay is almost closed by the island of Santa Clara at its mouth, which is what keeps the water inside so calm and made the town a royal resort in the nineteenth century. The white railing along the promenade is the emblem of the city.

The tide covers most of the sand at its highest and uncovers a wide beach at its lowest. Rain here is frequent even in summer — this is the wet end of Spain.
