Belsky Bridge, Ufa Live Cam

The Belaya runs past Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan in the southern Urals of Russia, under a road bridge. The camera looks along the crossing and the water below it.

The river floods every spring. Snowmelt off the Urals raises it by several metres in April and May and spreads it across the meadows on the far bank, which is why nothing is built on that side.

The city stands on a long ridge between the Belaya and the Ufa rivers, which is what kept it a fortress town for two centuries. It now runs on oil refining, and the works on the northern edge are among the largest in the country.
