Kusatsu Onsen Gate, Japan Live Cam

This live HD moving webcam looks over the Kusatsu Onsen Gate, the entrance to Kusatsu Onsen, one of Japan's well-known hot spring towns in Gunma Prefecture. The gate is sometimes called the Yumomi Gate.

Just beyond the gate is the Yubatake (湯畑), the town's hot water field, where the mineral-rich spring water cools before reaching the bathhouses. The Yumomi is a traditional method in which large wooden paddles stir the hot water to cool it, performed with music and chanting. The streets around the gate are lined with ryokan, public bathhouses, and shops, and the nearby Sainokawara Park has open-air baths. Kusatsu's hot springs are highly acidic and are believed to have health benefits.
