Weather and time

Via Emilia Est runs west from this webcam through the San Lazzaro quarter of Parma, in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. A row of shops runs under the yellow apartment block on the left, and vans and cyclists share the road below the lens.

The street is a surviving stretch of the Via Aemilia, the Roman road laid out in 187 BC from Rimini to Piacenza, which still forms the main axis of every town along it. This end of it is an ordinary residential quarter, with the San Lazzaro arch marking the old boundary further down the road.

Traffic builds at the start and end of the working day and thins out at lunchtime. Winter fog from the Po plain regularly cuts the view to the nearest hundred metres.
