Perlan, Reykjavík Live Cam

Reykjavík spreads out below Perlan, the glass-domed building on Öskjuhlíð hill above the Icelandic capital. The curve of the water tanks shows at the bottom of the frame, with the low city beyond it and Mount Esja on the horizon.

Perlan is built on six tanks holding 24 million litres of the city's geothermal hot water, and the dome above them houses a viewing deck, a restaurant and an exhibition with a hundred-metre artificial ice cave. The wooded slope below the building is one of the few pieces of forest in the city.

In midwinter the picture is dark for most of the working day and the city shows as a field of lights; in June it never really gets dark at all. The stream is run by the newspaper mbl.is.
